Brookfield, WI (WXOW) -The sound of sprinklers and this sight of water glistening off of a green
lawn is something residents of Brookfield, Wisconsin won't be seeing until more rain arrives.
That's because the town has implemented a ban on watering lawns due to the current drought hitting the area.
If residents don't follow the ban, they can face a $492 fine.
Aside from the lack of water in the community sprinklers are creating other problems in the local river systems.
According to Heidi Bunk of the Department of Natural Resources, run off is causing algae growth in local ponds and resulting in fish kill.
So far there have been reports of fish kills in the Rock and Fox Rivers.
