Loggers 3-game streak snapped

WAUSAU, Wisconsin (WXOW) - The La Crosse Loggers didn't have a long travel day in the midst of their five-game road trip. They finished up in Wisconsin Rapids on Thursday night and made the short drive to Wausau to start a three-game series with the Wisconsin Woodchucks.

The Loggers have come a long way however, from how they started the second half of the season. After a three game losing streak, La Crosse won its third straight in Rapids.

Their momentum continued Friday night as the Loggers got on the board first. But Wisconsin put up three runs in the second to take a 3-1 lead. Then, in the third, Jimmy Bosco blasted a two-run homer to tie the game at three.

La Crosse would trail 7-4 late in the game, but rallies in the eighth and ninth innings tied the game at seven, forcing the Woodchucks to bat in the bottom half. A hit batter and a couple of hits later, Wisconsin had runners in scoring position with only one out. That's when Cole Baylis's pitch went awry and the winning run scored from third.

The Loggers found their streak snapped at three games on the heels of the 8-7 loss. They'll take the field against Wisconsin again Saturday night at 6:35 p.m.
