LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW)-- The Children's Miracle Network Hospitals has launched a new program. It is called the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals Heroes.
It features local children that have been helped by the organization.
This year's heroes are Emma Groll, Caleb Berger, Jonas Kugler, Lindsay Schmidt and Abel David Boettcher.
"The hero signifies what they are and what they have been through. Alot of them will be more than any of us will ever have to face. They are a hero to me and I think the rest of the community will see that too," said Heather Gilles from Children's Miracle Network Hospitals.
Jonas is from La Crosse and is battling cancer.
Lindsey is from Onalaska and was born premature.
Caleb is from Melrose and has Cerebral Palsy.
Abel is from Altoona and has suffered multiple strokes.
Emma is from Bangor and loves with only half of a heart.
"My special heart is special because of Jesus," said four year old, Emma.
Through the good days and bad, CMN Hospitals has been there to help.
"We try to be there when the families need us the most. We cover those things that insurance doesn't cover," said Gilles.
"When your kids are healthy you don't think about it, but when your kids are sick, they come through with everything. They have helped with gas, food money, vouchers, money for us to make sure we are comfortable with the other kids, so it has been a big time blessing," said Liz Groll, Emma's mother.
The fab five hopes sharing their stories will help others.
