LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) – Changes will be coming to Oktoberfest's North Side fest grounds this year.
Oktoberfest's Executive Director Tina Severson says the North Side area of the fest will be alcohol free, and festers will not need to buy a button to gain entry.
Severson says she hopes that will boost turnout and encourage a wider demographic of people to check out the activities.
"We'd like to provide as wide of an array of activities as possible," Severson says. "A lot of different people live in our community and the more we can offer to appease that crowd the better."
The North Side fest grounds will also feature what Severson calls "community based" activities this year – like kick ball, theater and dance.
