United Way kicks off pace setters campaign

Posted:

LA CROSSE, WI (WXOW)—The United Way unofficially kicked off this year's fundraising campaign with the pace setters on Wednesday afternoon.

The13 pace setter companies begin fundraising before everyone else to give them some momentum for the official kick off in September.

Last year, the pace setters raised about $1 million, just under half of their total campaign.

This year they're hoping the pace setters raise around $1 million again.

"Giving to one organization, the united way, you're going to help over 28 agencies in a 5 county region that includes Houston County, Minnesota, and they're going to fund 60 to 90 programs," Mark Glendenning, Campaign Co-chair said.

The United Way hopes to fund 60 to 90 different programs with the donations.
