La Crosse, Wisconsin (WXOW) - The World Harmony Run made two stops in La Crosse today. We caught up with them this morning at the Children's Museum. The World Harmony Run was started in 1987 with the basic message that harmony and peace start in the hearts of each person, then spreads through families, friends, communities and the world.
The run started this year in April in New York City and will end in the same city in August, covering a total of ten thousand miles and 48 states. As they run across the world, they carry an Olympic style torch, which people pass while making wishes and prayers for world peace.
Salil Wilson, Executive Director of the run, said, "Running in the U.S. is a little bit like standing under a waterfall of human kindness. Its an amazing experience."
The runners hope that their visits will stick with people and help them think about what peace means to them and what they can do to promote it.
