Fast start keys Loggers win

La Crosse, WISCONSIN  Three first-inning runs helped the La Crosse Loggers (34-17) to a 5-2 win over the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters (22-29) at Copeland Park on Saturday.  

Jacob Dorris looked sharp on the mound. Dorris held the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters hitless over 2 2/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out three.  

Brandon Downes paced the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters at the plate.

Downes went 1-4, drove in one and scored one run. He homered in the fifth inning.  

Jesse Holiday recorded his second win of the year for the La Crosse Loggers.

He allowed two runs over five innings.

 He struck out two, walked one and surrendered three hits.

Bo Henning (0-3) took the loss for the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters.

He lasted just 6 2/3 innings, walked one, struck out five, and allowed five runs.
