LA CROSSE COUNTY (WXOW) -- The Wisconsin State Patrol-Tomah Post reports one person was killed and another injured in a single vehicle accident early Saturday near Bangor.
A 23-year-old man from Sparta was killed in the rollover crash. Another 23-year-old man sustained life-threatening injuries, and was transported to a local hospital. Both names are being withheld, pending the notification of family.
Sgt. Luke Yahn with the Wisconsin State Patrol says alcohol and speed are believed to be factors in the crash.
Authorities say the incident took place at 3:24 a.m. Saturday on County Highway U, 0.1 mile east of Huhn Road near Bangor. The driver lost control of the vehicle at an unknown speed, going slightly off the road. The vehicle came back on the roadway and crossed the lanes, and went into the south side ditch. The vehicle struck an embankment created by a driveway and flipped at least two times before coming to rest on its passenger side
Authorities say one person was thrown from the vehicle and sustained fatal injuries. The other occupant was trapped inside the vehicle and transported to a local hospital.
The crash remains under investigation by the Wisconsin State Patrol.
