BLACK RIVER FALLS, Wisconsin (WXOW) - More details are released on the capture of two escaped inmates from the Black River Correctional Center.

Jackson County Sheriff Duane Waldera says James Newman and James Misleveck were captured following a high speed chase in Broward County, Florida, north of Miami.

Police were called to the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino after a report of a suspicious vehicle driving slowly through parking lots and ramps.  Officers eventually saw the car at a nearby gas station.  When they tried to stop the car, it sped off.  After a high speed chase, the two men, later identified as Newman and Misleveck, stopped the car in a residential area and ran.

Using K-9 units and a helicopter, Misleveck was arrested hiding in the backyard of a home.

Newman was later found hiding in a tree.  Instead of surrendering, he jumped from the tree and ran.  He was caught by one of the K-9 dogs.  After treatment for his injuries, he was taken into custody.

Both men are now in the Broward County Jail.  Sheriff Waldera says the pair are awaiting extradition back to Wisconsin to face felony charges in both Jackson and Monroe Counties.

He did not release a timeframe when the men would be returned to the state.
