Campground Reports Dip in Business Due to Heat

Posted:

WEST SALEM, Wisconsin (WXOW) – The summer heat has taken its toll on business at area campground.

"This is the worst summer we've had with the heat," said Darlene Guinn, who manages Veterans Memorial Campground in West Salem.

"Business slowed a bit. Campers didn't want come out and sit in their camper with the air condition running the whole time that they're camping," she added.

Guinn said the campground does not take reservations, so much of its business comes from spontaneous weekend and overnight campers – many of whom were turned off by the heat.

Guinn added business has now picked back up after taking a dip during the last three weeks when temperatures were hottest.

The campground is now hoping temperatures stay bearable, in order to stabilize business.
