Undated (WXOW) - The national average price for a gallon of gasoline rose 17 cents in July, according to AAA.
That's the biggest jump in July since at least 2000, when AAA began keeping track.
Regular unleaded gas cost an average of $3.42 a gallon nationwide last month.
That's the third highest average for July on record.
AAA blames higher oil prices, Middle East instability and mixed global economic news for the price hike.
