
La Crosse, WISCONSIN Bobby Poyner held the La Crosse Loggers (40-19) scoreless for six innings to boost the Madison Mallards (32-27) to a 7-6 victory.
Poyner allowed four hits, no walks and struck out four.
John Welborn hit two home runs for the Madison Mallards.
Welborn went 3-6 in the game with three RBIs and three runs scored.
Welborn homered in the seventh and eleventh innings.
Welborn pushed the Madison Mallards ahead, in the eleventh inning, and the lead lasted until the final out.
With the score tied at six, Welborn came to the plate and homered.
Hobie McClain improved to 4-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Madison Mallards. He allowed three runs over four innings. He struck out four, walked two and surrendered two hits.
Zach Wright ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just 3 2/3 innings, walked one, struck out three, and allowed one run.
