La Crosse, WI (WXOW) - According to the Center for the American Woman in Politics, 56% of women voted for Obama in 2008, and women have voted democratically over the last five presidential elections.
Republican women are banding together to show support of Mitt Romney's election race against Barack Obama in 2012.
Local business owner Lynn Spicer spoke about the difficulty Obama's tax increase has had on her business.
Spicer owns Spicer Studios, which offers lessons on piano, guitar, violin, as well as many other instruments.
She says that it's a risk to start a business, and these changes make it difficult to survive. She says that Romney has shown appreciation toward the efforts of men and women.
"The self employment bill, was a tax actually that we had, that was detrimental thing to me this past year I'd say. I do believe that if the health care reform bill in enacted, that's going to be very damaging to all of us. It needs to be repealed," said Spicer.
Democratic state senator Jennifer Shilling disagrees.
She says the affordable care act promotes preventative health care that will ultimately reduce costs, and the bill provides health care equality for women.
"Making sure there's equity and that there is coverage for women as well. And so, when you look at some of the comprehensive health care and family planning that will be covered now, as well as looking at some of the preventative issues with scans, cancer screening and other testing that that's really important," said Shilling.
Shilling also mentioned that the bill helps small businesses provide health insurance through tax credits.
