LA CROSSE, WI (WXOW)—Common Council interviewed three candidates for the 7th District Council seat Thursday night.
The 7th District includes most of the downtown area.
The candidates are:
James Cherf, Owner of By James Galleries
Amesia Ngialah Xiong, Assistant District Attorney for La Crosse County
Jason LaCourse, Owner of The Cavalier Lounge.
Cherf said he hopes to be a voice for people who want to participate in the downtown community.
Xiong said he would like to make downtown as great as he heard it used to be and continue the revitalization process.
LaCourse said he would like to see more businesses and jobs downtown, as well as more people living downtown.
The 7th District Council seat was left open after Jim Bloedorn moved out of the district and resigned.
Council will vote on who will fill Bloedorn's seat on Thursday, August 9 at 7:30 p.m.
