La Crescent, MN (WXOW) - Thirty-four teams from around Houston County are walking all night to raise money for the Relay for Life and American Cancer Society.
Each team will have at least one member walking from six Friday evening until six am Saturday.
The money raised goes to people who are living with cancer and will help with transportation costs, medical bills, and other expenses to help reduce the stresses involved when dealing with the disease.
"When somebody is struggling with cancer, their life doesn't always just go on the same way that it always would. It's more difficult to work, you have medical bills to think about. To have the American Cancer Society to help somebody through some of those things is really important," said Co-Chair of the Houston County Relay for Life chapter, Jodi Barton.
The event kicks off at six o'clock on Friday August 3rd, and includes a ceremony at dusk lighting bags that are in memory or in honor of someone who has or has had cancer.
