Starting job showdowns on Packers Family Night

GREEN BAY, Wisconsin (WXOW) - 70,000 plus fans on hand and not a ticket leftover at the Packers annual Family Night Scrimmage. Those on hand got to catch a glimpse of the Pack's first live-action for the season.

One thing they saw is the battle for starting positions.

Four players, Jarrett Bush, Davon House, Sam Shields and Casey Hayward have worked with the number-one defense at some point. Bush is the top tackler. House and Hayward have both shown flashes of ball-hawking skills with impressive interceptions. Shields is still struggling to find his 2010 form.

Cornerbacks Coach Joe Whitt told reporters this week not to jump to any conclusions about who the starter will be. But, as camp goes on we will likely have an idea of at least who the leader in the clubhouse is, and live action only helps.

Head Coach Mike McCarthy said, "I don't see the risk being that much greater during live tackling. We need live action. It's historically been a good game, good scrimmage, good prep to get us ready for our first game."

The Packers have Saturday off before returning the practice field Sunday night.
