LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) - Gundersen Lutheran held its first "Wellness Fest" Saturday with the mission of promoting healthy habits and well-being.
The fest featured information booths set up by Gundersen, and area businesses were also there, hoping to showcase the healthy benefits of some of their products.
In previous years, Gundersen held separate targeted wellness events, like the Women's Expo and the Senior Resource Fair.
But organizers say this year they wanted to create an event whole families could attend.
They say learning about health together makes families stronger.
"That's why it's nice that we have events like this, where you can bring family and friends and have everybody kind of on the same page where mom and dad are role modeling for their kids," said Wellness Education Specialist Christie Harris. "And it's just a nice way for everybody in the family to get involved."
Organizers say they were pleased with the turnout, which they estimated as a few thousand people.
