LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) - About 500 people came out to Erickson Park today for "Y.E.A. Day."
Y.E.A. stands for "Youth Enrichment Association", a non-profit organization working with the La Crosse Park and Rec. Program.
They provide funding and scholarships to families who otherwise can't afford Park and Rec. programs.
The day's event featured carnival games, relay races and a free hotdog lunch.
Organizers say "Y.E.A. Day" is an opportunity to showcase the group's efforts, and in the end, it's all about the kids.
"It's so fun because they're just so outgoing when you come to events like this," said Recreation Supervisor Chelsey Nesset. "They talk to you like they're your best friend, like they've known you forever. So when you have kids looking at you with admiration, it's just like 'Aw, great day.'"
Organizers say the most popular activity was the inflatables provided by Big Event Company.
