EAU CLAIRE, Wisconsin (WQOW) - Business leaders in Eau Claire are trying to solve a local labor problem. The Eau Claire Area Economic Development Corporation is conducting a study to find out why there are so many local jobs not being filled. The goal is to open up lines of communication between businesses and potential employees.
Scott Hodek a Labor Market Economist says, "There's a ton of demand there, but we aren't necessarily getting people into those pipelines. So you've got businesses on one hand saying, 'We've got 80 jobs to fill here and we just can't do it' and on the other hand you've got people saying, 'Well I can't find a job.'"
The study will include educators, employers, and job applicants. Results could be available by December.
