Services Resume at Oak Creek Sikh Temple

Posted:

OAK CREEK, Wisconsin (AP) -- Sikh worshippers in Wisconsin are held a ceremony involving a flag pole before their first Sunday prayer service since a white supremacist shot and killed six people at their temple last Sunday.

About 100 people gathered in the parking lot of the temple in Oak Creek, where several dozen men and boys took down a flag pole covered with orange cloth.

They pole was washed in water and milk, before being re-wrapped in a fresh cloth. The group then entered the temple, performing more prayers and hymns.

Sikhs in Oak Creek began returning to their temple Thursday -- after the FBI completed its on site investigation.

They replaced carpets and repaired walls damaged by gunfire but left a dime-sized bullet hole unrepaired in memory of those killed.
