CHATFIELD, Minn. (KTTC)-- The political battle continues to heat up between republican candidates Mike Parry and Allen Quist for the first congressional district and the primary election is right around the corner.
Both candidates were in Chatfield Saturday to take part in the parade and do some last minute campaigning before Tuesday's vote.
Sen. Parry says has a passion for family and he says that helps shape some of the views he hopes to take to Congress.
He also says he wants to be the voice for small business owners and farmers. Sen. Parry recently sent a letter urging U.S. House leadership to take action of the pending farm legislation before the current farm bill expires on September 30.
And he says his past as being a small business owner, farm kid, and a soldier in the Army National Guard has given him a "take action" attitude.
Something he hopes will carry him to Washington.
Senator Parry says, "The uncertainty of Obamacare scares people. It scares business people. They can't grow. There is no certainty, but it's still about the jobs and the economy. They want to have two jobs instead of having three and the only way they can do that is if we release these rules and regulations and let the job producers grow."
If elected, Senator Parry wants to repeal Obamacare. Sen. Parry explains, "I think we need to open state lines so that we can purchase health insurance from anywhere in the country that fits our needs and I think that will help control the cost."
The winner of the August 14th primary will challenge Democratic Representative Tim Walz in Minnesota's 1st district.
