Woman turns herself into police 15 years later

LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) -  A former La Crosse County woman convicted in a 1997 child custody case has turned herself in.

51-year old Gretchen Kammel of Rockland was convicted 15 years ago of taking her two children to Colorado without their fathers consent.

She was free on bond after her conviction but never showed up for her sentencing.  A warrant for her arrest was issued in June of 1998 according to court records.

Sunday night, authorities say Kammel turned herself in.. 

She appeared in La Crosse County Circuit Court Monday where her bond was set at $25,000.
