Baldwin challenges GOP primary winner to 3 debates

MADISON (WXOW) -- Tammy Baldwin is challenging the Republican nominee for U.S. Senate to join her in accepting three general election debates.

"Tonight, Republican primary voters will present Wisconsin with a clear choice for the November election. So today I am challenging the winner of the Republican Primary to three statewide debates," Baldwin said, "This election is a choice, and providing the people of Wisconsin with an honest debate of the issues is what they deserve."

Baldwin agreed to accept three debates that would be televised to a statewide audience:

- Wisconsin Public Television debate in Wausau on October 18 sponsored by Wisconsin Public Television, Wisconsin Public Radio, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and Today's TMJ4

- Wisconsin Broadcasters Association Foundation general election debate

- WISN "UpFront with Mike Gousha" debate in partnership with Marquette University Law School and the UpFront network of affiliates (including WXOW) across the state.

Baldwin says, "There are clear differences in this election and voters deserve to have myself and my opponent meet face-to-face to debate the issues. I look forward to the Republican nominee joining me at these three statewide debates."
