Loggers thrive on late inning drama

Posted:

La Crosse, WISCONSIN (WXOW)  The Loggers flair for the dramatic has earned them a spot in the Northwoods League Championship series.

They did it again last night, closing out a two-game sweep over Wisconsin with an 8-7 11-inning win.

Before winning it in the 11th they needed to score 3 times in the 9th to tie it.

It was another in a long line of 9th inning comebacks this season.

Now the Loggers high wire act is two wins away from a Northwoods League title.

"I can't explain this and I can't explain how routinely we do it. I'm going to try and explain it. I'm just glad I'm on the good side of it. These guys compete. They play very hard. They really want to win a championship," said Loggers manager Andy McKay.

The Loggers will play the winner of the Willmar/Mankato series in a best of three series for the NWL title.

The championship series will start Thursday.
