Local legislators lobby MN Gov. Dayton on reciprocity

Posted:

MADISON, Wisconsin (WXOW) - La Crosse area legislators are urging Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton to sign a tax reciprocity agreement between the two states for 2013.

While both sides agreed to the deal, they have failed to reach agreement on how much each side should receive.  As of the Friday, the states are more than $40 million apart.

In a bi-partisan effort, legislators whose districts border Minnesota, signed a letter asking for the measure to get the Governor's signature by September.  The group feels that if the deal isn't made by then, it is doubtful there would be tax reciprocity for the 2013 tax year.

The letter was signed by Sen. Jennifer Shilling, Reps. Jill Billings, Steve Doyle, Lee Nerison, and 12 other state senators and representatives.
