Loggers win Northwoods Title

Posted:

LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) - There was no drama but plenty of excitement Friday night as the Loggers won their 1st Northwoods League Championship.

La Crosse jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the third inning after RBI's from Brandon Bednar and Tyler Kuresa. Mankato would add a run in the top of the fourth, but Bednar would score in the bottom half on a wild pitch to re-take a four-run lead.

The MoonDogs threatened once again in the fifth with a runner on third and only one out. Alex Wise made good contact but lined the ball right to Kuresa who made the catch and doubled-up the runner at third to end the frame.

In the bottom half of the fifth, La Crosse put the nail in the coffin. Tyler Servais blasted a two-run home run to right field to give the Loggers a 7-1 lead. They added another run on a wild pitch in the eighth inning and held on to win 8-1 to claim the NWL Title.
