La Crosse, WI (WXOW)-- It's almost that time again, kids are getting ready to go back to school. And to help both the little ones and their parents prepare, The Children's Museum hosted "Back-to-School Safety Day," in conjunction with Gundersen Lutheran.
Families who attended learned about topics like playground safety and dental health, with one booth providing tips on packing healthy lunches. Those tips include using wheat bread for sandwiches and including fruits and vegetables.
"Making sure they don't have just junk food but things like apples and we want to make sure they get a balanced meal while they're at school," said Marie Johnson, a mom who attended the event. "The lectures probably seem to get quite old at home so having someone else talk to them about it is definitely a bonus."
The Sudden Cardiac Arrest Association was also on hand to teach kids about CPR.
