LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) - ACE Hardware and some thrifty shoppers spent their Saturday supporting Children's Miracle Network Hospitals.
Today was the 19th Annual Grand Garage Sale, held at the ACE Hardware distribution center.
The event raises about $45,000 for CMNH through the sale of both goods found at ACE and donated items.
So organizers say it provided a chance to save money on your shopping, while still giving back to our community.
"The big huge crowd, it's almost like a Black Friday thing where people are going through the stores really fast and stuff," said Sara Taggart, CMNH Coordinator for ACE Hardware. "But everybody's very good about it. I mean we don't have anybody mauling people for products and stuff, but it's a very nice crowd. We always have a nice crowd."
Organizers of today's garage sale also stressed that money raised will stay local, helping families in our community who may need the care of the Children's Miracle Network.
"It's just a wonderful thing. We know that the money stays here, and we get to see with hospital tours where the money actually goes for these kids for whatever afflictions that they have," Taggart said. "And it's all over the Coulee Region--children from all over that can benefit from these monies. So it's a wonderful thing."
