Democrats call for Thompson's tax returns

MILWAUKEE (WKOW) -- Democrats nationally are calling for Mitt Romney to release more of his tax returns. In Wisconsin, Democrats are asking the same of Republican U.S. Senate candidate Tommy Thompson.

The effort is being led by the state's Democratic communications director, Graeme Zielinski. "When you apply for a job you have to give information to your employer, the employers are the people of the state of Wisconsin and we think the people of the state of Wisconsin deserve to know this information before they hire or not hire Tommy Thompson as their Senator," Zielinski said.

There was a demonstration in Wauwatosa Saturday, before a Thompson appearance at Republican headquarters. Inside, campaign volunteers and Governor Scott Walker were there to greet Thompson, a four-time governor himself.

ABC-affiliate WISN 12 News in Milwaukee asked Thompson about his taxes. Thompson said he released all his taxes when he was governor, and will release all his taxes if he's elected to the U.S. Senate.

Thompson will face Democrat Tammy Baldwin in the November general election.
