Home Remodeled After Fire Featured in Parade of Homes

La Crosse, WI (WXOW)-- The La Crosse Area Builders Association got to show off the  work of local construction companies through its annual Parade of Homes.

This year's show featured homes in La Crosse, Onalaska, Holmen and West Salem. One of the homes on display was recently remodeled after a fire.

The home's owner worked with Empire Development and Construction to essentially gut and re-create the entire main floor. The finished product features an eat-in kitchen and even heated floors in the bathrooms.

"We wanted to get people in here and let them understand that you can, number one, take a fire damaged home and make it new again," said Tony Szak, owner of Empire Development and Construction. "There's a lot of people that come through and go, 'Oh, it doesn't smell like smoke in here,' which, that's your number one thing you want to eliminate."

The Parade of Homes will run again from August 23 through the 26th.
