La Crosse, WI (WXOW)-- A benefit was held today to help two people who are typically used to being on the giving end, not the receiving one.
Larry and Linda Gloede have served as foster parents for more than two decades, providing dozens of kids with a home, but that home was lost in a fire back in July. No one was injured but almost everything inside was destroyed.
Today, in an effort to help the Gloede's rebuild, friends and relatives raised money through a silent auction and raffle, which will now assist the Gloede's and their foster children.
"Right now they're in a rental," said Tami Gloede, Larry and Linda's daughter-in-law. "They will be there for the next few months so we're just trying to get them some of the basic items that they need for the time being. And when they get in to their home we will help furnish some items that they need."
There will be another fundraiser for the Gloede family this Thursday from 4 to 7:30 pm at La Crosse's North Country Steak Buffet.
If you'd like to make a donation, you can contact Tami Gloede at 608-780-5936.
