MADISON, Wisconsin (WXOW) - Bret Bielema said all throughout fall camp he would name a starting quarterback this coming Wednesday, but apparently he couldn't wait any longer.
He announced on his Twitter page tonight that transfer quarterback Danny O'Brien will start in the season opener. Bielema tweeted that he was asked so many questions about the quarterback situation at today's family fun day that he just had to make a decision.
O'Brien was competing for the job with senior Curt Phillips and redshirt freshman Joel Stave. But, O'Brien is really the only guy with game experience with 17 starts under his belt from his days at Maryland.
