La Crosse, WI (WXOW)—A pro-life bus tour made a stop in La Crosse Tuesday. The Susan B. Anthony List campaign is called "Women Speak Out: Abortion is Not Healthcare," is traveling to five states and making 30 stops.
At each stop, the group is speaking out against President Obama's healthcare plan and his stance on abortion.
While in La Crosse, the group also denounced Rep. Tammy Baldwin's pro-choice position.
Former congresswoman Marilyn Musgrave says the goal of the bus tour is to get pro-life candidates elected to local state and federal offices.
"We work very hard to elect pro-life candidates," Musgrave said. "We know that in this time, when the majority of Americans are pro-life, the policies coming out of this administration are the most extreme ever. We have the most pro-abortion president ever."
We also asked the former congresswoman about senate candidate Todd Akin's comments.
"Well he said he misspoke. I'm going to take him at his word," Musgrave said. "People do misspeak, especially candidates that are making a lot of speeches."
Rep. Tammy Baldwin was also in town Tuesday. We asked her about her pro-choice stance. She says she supports the presidents healthcare plan and a woman's right to choose.
"We have seen the government try to intrude in the most personal and critical of all life choices," Baldwin said. "Interfering with women's access to birth control and frankly without healthcare reform, being a women would still be considered a preexisting healthcare condition."
