Onalaska adapts to first year head coach

Onalaska, WISCONSIN (WXOW)  There's plenty of "newness" in the Onalaska football camp this summer.

New head coach and a lot of new starters.

Tom Yashinsky is leading the Hilltoppers this season, taking over for Dieter Antoni.

Yashinsky spent 4 seasons as an assistant there.

So he's a familiar figure.

He returns just 4 starters total from last year's team.

But at least the players have some familiarity with their new head coach.

"I think it works out pretty good. He was here since I was a freshman. So it's not like he's throwing too much of a different thing at us. It's still the basics, just a little newer," said senior Dalton Treanow.

"I think over the summer kids have really bought into the plan we've put in place. Being here the last 4 years they know me. I'm a familiar face. It's helped get everything going an buy in to what we're doing," said Yashinsky.

Onalaska renews it's annual rivalry with West Salem in the season opener this Friday.
