MANKATO, Minnesota (WQOW/AP) - A former UW-Eau Claire Blugolds football coach has been arrested.
On Tuesday, Todd Hoffner was booked into jail in a child pornography investigation. He has not been charged. Hoffner is the head football coach at Minnesota State Mankato. He spent seven seasons as the UW-Eau Claire head coach. He left the university for another job six years ago.
Hoffner was escorted off the practice field on Friday. A university spokesman says that Hoffner is on leave.
The Mankato Free Press reports authorities were at Hoffner's Eagle Lake home. Eagle Lake Police Chief Phil Wills told the newspaper he couldn't comment.
The Associated Press left messages seeking comment from sheriff's officials and prosecutors.

Mankato, Minn. – Earlier today, the Blue Earth County Sheriff announced that Minnesota State University, Mankato head football coach Todd Hoffner is facing possible criminal charges. Questions regarding any law enforcement actions should be referred to the Blue Earth County Sheriff's Department.
Hoffner has been on leave from his coaching position since Friday, August 17, 2012. A university investigation against Mr. Hoffner is pending. The Minnesota Government Data Practices Act prohibits the University from disclosing further information concerning the pending matter.
The University's top priority is ensuring the safety and well-being of its students, program participants, and the community. The University is not aware of any allegations affecting university students or program participants.
