Obama, Thompson lead in latest MU Law Poll

MILWAUKEE (WXOW) -- Despite the addition of Congressman Paul Ryan (R-Janesville) to the Republican ticket, President Barack Obama has a 49-46 lead over Mitt Romney in Wisconsin.

That's according to the latest Marquette University Law School Poll released Wednesday afternoon.

It's the first MU Law Poll to be conducted since Ryan was named as Romney's vice presidential candidate on August 11.

While President Obama maintains his lead, it is smaller than it was two weeks ago, when he led Romney 50-45.

In the race for U.S. Senate, Republican Tommy Thompson has a 50-41 lead over Democratic Congresswoman Tammy Baldwin.

Former Governor Thompson won a closely-contested Republican primary on August 14.

A new Public Policy Polling (PPP) poll released Wednesday, also shows Thompson in the lead, at 49-44.
