LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) -- As Hurricane Isaac makes its way through Louisiana, a pair of local volunteers will fly south this week to assist with the relief effort.
Leah Misch will depart Wednesday and assist with the American Red Cross's Health Services efforts in the gulf.
Misch said she will provide first aid to people who sustain injuries due to the storm.
"The people that you see down there, you help and you meet, you just can't get those experiences around (La Crosse)," Misch said. "And then to know that the people you're helping have lost everything, that they really need the help, that's the most rewarding thing."
Kayla Acosta will also be deployed with the Red Cross this week.
She'll be helping hurricane victims displaced to shelters.
"It's a great opportunity and it gives me kind of a break from here," Acosta said.
