LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) – Western Technical College held the first of eight informational sessions Wednesday regarding a proposed, $79 million referendum that will appear on election ballots throughout the school's district on November 6.
That district covers La Crosse, Monroe, Vernon, Jackson and Juneau Counties, as well as areas of Buffalo, Clark, Sauk, Richland and Crawford Counties.
If passed, it would translate to some $40 annually paid by a person who owns a home valued at $100-thousand.
Western would then use the money to remodel four of its current buildings and build both a greenhouse and parking ramp on campus.
The College's President says the renovations would help Western accommodate an anticipated growth of one-thousand students annually by 2020.
Building projects would be completed by 2016.
Other information sessions on the referendum will be held:
