BLACK RIVER FALLS, Wisconsin (WXOW) - One man is shot and another arrested following a shooting Thursday night in Jackson County.

According to a release from the Jackson County Sheriff's Department, the shooting happened in the Town of Franklin shortly after 9:00 PM.  A 911 caller said that a man had been shot in the back at a home on Bahnub Road.

Once officers from both Trempealeau and Jackson Counties made the area safe, first responders began treating the victim, only identified as a 23-year-old Taylor, Wisconsin man.  He was taken to a local medical facility for treatment of what was described as a non-life threatening wound to the upper left back.  The man was later released.

Jackson County's Emergency Response Team arrested 61-year-old Michael "Ritch" Charles without incident at the home where the shooting occured. A .22 caliber rifle was later found at the home.

The sheriff's department says Charles is in the Jackson County Jail without bond on a charge of 1st Degree Endangering safety.

According to investigators, the shooting happened after Charles found out the victim and two of his friends had been at Charles' illegal marijuana grow.  Officers also seized an undisclosed amount of marijuana during a search of the property.
