HOLMEN, Wisconsin (WXOW) - After two big wins over Big Rivers teams last week, Holmen and Logan looked to be the teams to beat in the Mississippi Valley Conference. They met at Empire Stadium on Friday to open conference play.
The Vikings jumped out to a 21-6 lead at half thanks to a brutal offensive attack. In the third, Zane Finucane added another touchdown on a 15-yard scamper to put Holmen up 29-6.
The defense allowed a Ranger touchdown on a Jonah Waite 10-yard scramble, but Holmen held tough aside from that, highlighted by a nice backfield tackle-for-loss from Avery Hackett in the 3rd and a Zac Watson interception in the 4th.
The Vikings were able to run out the clock after that. They win their MVC opener 29-13 improving to 2-0 on the season (1-0 conference). Logan falls to 1-1 and 0-1 in the MVC.
