Start of Classes is Good News for Area Business

La Crosse, WI (WXOW)-- As students prepare for classes local businesses prepare for a boom in customers. With both Viterbo and the UW-L back in session, there are thousands of students back in town.

One especially busy restaurant is Toppers Pizza on West Avenue. Toppers is just a few blocks from campus and is open until 3 AM during the week and 3:30 AM on weekends. So when the universities are back in session sales, especially deliveries, jump.

One pizza-maker says while September gets a little hectic, the employees are always glad when classes start up.

"They're excited to come here, especially during bar time," said Brian Albrecht, who works at Toppers Pizza. "And they come even during they day, on weekends when they're studying. It's more money for me. We basically get all our money off tips so taking deliveries, the more we take the better we do."

Albrecht says the rush is good practice for Oktoberfest which he says is even busier than back-to-school time.
