Pedal-Powered Music Festival

Posted:

La Crosse, WI (WXOW)-- Bike Fest continued Sunday, with a downtown music festival that combined live entertainment with cycling.

The stage was powered by bicyclists. This was the first year of the bike-powered music fest.

Anyone could sign up to spin during one of the performances. The sound and lights depended on the pedal power as there was no back up plan if they didn't have enough riders. Luckily Pearl Street was full of biking enthusiasts.

"We just thought we'd try it and see how it works out," Mike Keil, one of the organizers. "It's actually done in conjunction with bike fest. So we thought, the downtown music festival and bike fest, that this is a good tie in to bike fest by having the stage powered by people on spin bikes."

Bike fest wraps up Monday.
