Labor Day gas prices expected to be highest ever

Posted:

LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) - Triple A says drivers this Labor Day are going to face the most expensive prices we've ever seen this time of year.

You can thank Hurricane Isaac for some of that as it forced some Gulf Coast refineries to shut down.

Nationally, gas prices are above $3.80 per gallon, nearly 20 cents more than this time last year.

Officials expect prices to start dropping this month as the refineries come back online and the peak summer driving season winds down.
