WEST SALEM, Wisconsin (WXOW) - Hundreds of campers are on the road Monday, heading back home after a weekend at Veterans Memorial Campground.
Campground managers expected the large crowd for Labor Day. They filled almost all 125 campsites this weekend.
The number of campers on site met expectations, matching last year's turnout, managers said.
"We've just got a bunch of nice people who come and a lot of them are repeaters who come all the time. We get to make a lot of friends," said Veterans Memorial Campground manager Darlene Guinn.
Most campers began their trip home from the campground this morning.
It was many kids' last out outing before heading back to school.
