LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) - Oktoberfest has new alcohol-free features this year.
The north side will no longer require a button for admission and alcohol won't be served.
North side events will include a football camp, a strongman competition and a kickball tournament.
"In general, you need to offer balance at any festival you have and (have) a variety of activities, especially with this year. Our theme is, "It's All About Fest!" and (the theme) really reflects the fact that we have something for everyone here and we want to make sure we follow through on that," said Tina Severson, Oktoberfest executive director.
The Maple Leaf Parade's family-friendly zone is back this year on the south side. There, people can enjoy the parade on the bleachers in an alcohol and smoke-free environment.
