La Crosse, Wisconsin (WXOW) - Twelve local companies helped kick off the Great Rivers United Way fall fundraising campaign Thursday by announcing that they have already raised more than $880,000 dollars.
That is 43 percent of the goal of $2,050,000 dollars. Volunteers, community leaders, and partner agency representatives met for breakfast to introduce the pacesetter companies and celebrate campaign totals so far.
Among the agencies that benefit from donations to the United Way are Coulee Cap, Hunger Task Force, New Horizons, and the Salvation Army.
Salvation Army Development Director, Julie Nelson said, "By donating just to one organization, this way you can give money to all these great organizations at once. So its a really nice way to help a lot of good agencies and just put your donation in one spot."
Great Rivers United Way funds 28 non-profit organizations, providing 68 human service programs in the area.
