Marquette, MICHIGAN (WXOW) Despite a fast start, the UW-La Crosse football team was not able to finish off a second road upset of the season Thursday night.
Instead, they fall to Northern Michigan 24-6 in Marquette.
The Eagles opened the game on a 15-play, 69 yard touchdown drive.
It was capped off by a 4-yard touchdown pass from Andy Sires to Tony Bilderback.
The point after was missed but UW-L still led 6-0.
After that it was all Northern Michigan. Prince Young scored three touchdowns and ran for 102 yards.
Zach Mestelle took over at quarterback for the final three quarters but the Eagles were only able to muster 196 yards of total offense for the game.
Mestelle was 12-24 with one interception for 106 yards passing.
The Eagles fall to 1-1.
