UWL Student Dies After Being Hit by Car

LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) – A UW-La Crosse student passed away in the hospital Saturday afternoon after being hit by a car Friday.

23-year old Jing Gu was a student from China, and Police say she quickly walked into the path of an oncoming car on La Crosse St. -- near the Oakland St. intersection. 

The driver hit the brakes, but was unable to avoid the collision.

Gu was transported to the hospital with life threatening injuries.

She passed away at 1:40 p.m. Saturday afternoon.

Gu's parents, who live in China, have been notified of their daughter's death.

The crash remains under investigation.
