Green Bay, WISCONSIN Jim Bible of Black River Falls High School has been named Green Bay Packers High School Coach of the Week, a program presented by the Wisconsin National Guard, the organization announced Wednesday.
Through the first three games of the 2012 season, Bible's Tigers have roared out to a 3-0 record. Their third victory of the season was against Westby, 24-14, the defending Coulee Conference champions. The Tigers will look to extend their winning streak this Friday, when they host the 2-1 Arcadia Raiders.
"We're playing real clean football this year," said Bible. "We have the same bunch of kids that we had in 2011 when the team went 1-8, except this year they believe in themselves and they're playing with a lot of confidence."
A Black River Falls, Wis., native, Bible is a 1979 graduate of Black River Falls High School where he played defensive back under Wisconsin Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame inductee Warren Rosin. After high school, he attended Carroll University where he played defensive back for head coach Mark Williams. Bible, a local cranberry farmer, began his coaching career as an assistant at Black River Falls in 1993 before being promoted to head coach in 2001.
Bible and his staff oversee a program of 80 players, including a varsity roster of 40. His assistant coaching staff includes Paul Dutton, Tom Epps, James Hizer, Jason Janke, Brian Jensen, Seth Larson, Jim Rufsholm, Larry Severson and Kody Zarhte.
Bible and his wife, Greta, have four children, JT, Rachel, Emma and Ethan.
