LA CROSSE, WI (WXOW)—Local volunteers got some well deserved recognition on Thursday during the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program appreciation ceremony.
Last year, RSVP gave 106,000 hours of volunteer work to the Coulee Region, totaling $2 million in community service.
The group honored 360 volunteers today.
RSVP volunteers do things like tutoring children, assisting at medical facilities and taking pictures at the DMV.
"Without our volunteers we would not be where we are," Lynnetta Kopp, RSVP Executive Director said. "The community would not be as good as it is so I cannot thank our volunteers enough for what they do to make a difference in our community."
RSVP matches senior volunteers' interests with needs in the community.
